My name is Alyshia Dillon. I was born in South Dakota while my dad was serving on active duty in the Air Force. By the time I was three years old, my family had moved to Maine, where I grew up mostly in Levant and Hampden. Maine quickly became home, and it鈥檚 where most of my life鈥檚 story takes place.

I graduated from Hampden Academy in 2013, and just a couple of years later, while still in college, I began my career in law enforcement as a part-time police officer. In 2015, I was juggling both college and policing, and by the time I graduated Husson University with my bachelor鈥檚 degree in criminal justice, I knew I鈥檇 found my calling.

I graduated the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in May of 2018.

Most of my policing career was spent with the Old Town Police Department, where I eventually became a detective. It was there that I really leaned into community policing, which has always been my passion. One of the projects I鈥檓 most proud of was helping develop the 鈥淩ecovery Packet,鈥� a resource for people struggling with addition and for their families. It was designed to make it easier to connect people with the support and services they needed to begin the journey towards recovery.

After my time in Old Town, I went on to work as a patrol deputy with the Penobscot County Sheriff鈥檚 Office and later made my transition to the University of Maine, where I took on the role of Records Manager. Each step has taught me something new about service, people, and the importance of being approachable and supportive no matter what title I held.

I 2017 I met my wonderful husband, Matthew. We married in 2023, and together we are raising two incredible boys. As a family, we share a love for the outdoors-whether it鈥檚 hiking, swimming, playing sports, and fishing. My family is the heart of everything I do; they are my greatest source of strength, motivation, and support, and they will always come first in my life.

Looking ahead, my goal is to continue growing both personally and professionally. I hope to attend grad school and earn my master鈥檚 degree in Trauma Informed Emergency Management through the 天美传媒. At the same time, my role with UMA Bangor is giving me a chance to do what I love most: building safe, inclusive environments where people know they can come to me for anything 鈥� whether it鈥檚 advice, investigations, constructive feedback, or just someone to listen.

I鈥檓 excited about the future, about creating new relationships, and about being part of what I truly believe is the best school in the state.
